KK Conrad Ultra Bits take advantage of the exceptional sensitivity of the tongue.

Sprenger in collaboration with the University of Hannover researched and analysed measurements of over 70 horses heads.

Their results ;

* The interior volume of the mouth was less than had been previously thought.

* The palate was both smaller and very often flatter than previously imagined.

* The space available for a bit is therefore very limited.

Sprenger used this information to develop the ULTRA Range with the aim to improve the bits without increasing severity.

* As the palate is narrower than originally assumed the lozenge in the centre was shortened ( no pressure on the palate ).

* The angle of the link was twisted by 45 degrees. This ensures that when the reins are applied the rounded link rests fully on the tongue without squeezing it.

The Turnado loose ring snaffle is subtly different from traditional loose ring snaffles, yet the results it produces can be dramatic. The turnado lies perfectly in the horse's mouth because the joint is twisted to an angle of 45 degrees. The aids from the rider reach the horse's mouth more precisely when using the Sprenger turnado, but still in a subtle manor. The bit is more readily accepted resulting in instant and increased chewing activity. Often a very successful bit for horses prone to putting their tongue over the bit, the joint does not put pressure on the tongue or palate in the same manor as a traditional jointed snaffle. The turnado snaffle has a mouthpiece made from the revolutionary patented material Aurigan, which works like no other metal. The 18 mm WH ultra snaffle is a slightly unusual, yet highly successful dressage legal snaffle. The WH ultra is similar in design to the Sprenger KK ultra, but the centre lozenge contains a small wheel also known as a roller that gives the horses a far greater feeling of freedom with his tongue. The WH ultra snaffle has a mouthpiece made from the revolutionary patented material Aurigan, which works like no other metal. Aurigan is a copper based material that oxidises to produce a pleasant and distinctive taste that horses love, and encourages a soft relaxed jaw, wet mouth and quick acceptance of this Sprenger bit. The sprenger WH has proved very successful for horses that have a tendency to put their tongue over the bit, or have a generally busy mouth. The 18mm in this sprenger bit is useful for horses with a larger mouth that tends to be sensitive and need a wide bearing surface from a bit.
